How a Single Water Well Changed an Entire Village in Benin

Before the well was built, children in this rural Benin village walked over 3 miles each day to collect water from a muddy, contaminated river. Many fell ill. Girls often missed school because the water collection took hours.

When Al-Noman Foundation built a clean water well in the center of the village, everything changed. Over 300 families now have daily access to clean, safe drinking water. Children are back in school. Illness from waterborne diseases has dropped dramatically.

One village elder told us: "Before the well, we drank fear. Now we drink life." This is what your $30, $50, or $100 can do — transform an entire community, one well at a time.

Fresh bread for daily distribution

How 20 Cents Feeds a Family

In Benin, a single loaf of bread can be the difference between a child going to school energized or going hungry. Our Bread a Day campaign has proven that even the smallest donations create enormous impact.

For just 20 cents, we provide a fresh loaf of bread to someone in need. That means a $6 donation feeds a person for an entire month. The smiles on the children's faces when they receive their daily bread remind us why we do this work.

Standing With Gaza: Our Humanitarian Response

When crisis struck Gaza, Al-Noman Foundation mobilized immediately. We channeled donations into food packages, clean water, medical supplies, and essential aid for families displaced by conflict.

Every dollar donated to Save Gaza went directly to families on the ground. We worked with trusted local partners to ensure aid reached those who needed it most — mothers, children, the elderly, and the injured.

From Sponsorship to Scholarship: A Student's Journey

When a child receives a school bag, books, stationery, and shoes through our $30/month Student Plan, it's not just supplies — it's dignity. It's the message that someone believes in them.

Many of the students we sponsor had never owned a new pair of shoes or a backpack. Today, they walk to school with confidence, ready to learn. Education is the most powerful tool we can give — it breaks the cycle of poverty for generations.

Giving the Gift of Independence

For many people in Benin with mobility challenges, a wheelchair is not a luxury — it's freedom. Without one, they are confined to their homes, dependent on others for everything, and cut off from their communities.

Our Be Mobile campaign has provided wheelchairs to dozens of people, each one a story of restored independence. The moment someone sits in their wheelchair for the first time and rolls forward on their own — that moment is why this foundation exists.

In Loving Memory

Why We Give: The Story of Noman Abushanab

Al-Noman Foundation was born from the deepest love and the deepest loss. In 2021, we lost Noman Abushanab to COVID-19 — a man whose generosity, warmth, and compassion touched everyone who knew him.

"Noman believed that every person, regardless of where they were born, deserved a chance at a dignified life. He gave freely, loved deeply, and never turned away from someone in need."

His family and friends came together to honor his memory by creating something that would carry his spirit forward — a foundation that would give people around the world the same kindness and opportunity that Noman gave to everyone he met.

Every water well we build, every child we educate, every family we feed — it all carries Noman's name and his legacy. He lives on through the smiles of the people we serve. That is why we are Al-Noman. That is why we give.
